Hi There! I’m Josh and I’m a British paleontologist, currently based in the US, working on my PhD at NC State University and the Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh. I study a group of omnivorous theropod dinosaurs called oviraptorosaurs, who laid very unusual eggs. These eggs are very long and narrow, laid in pairs, and show ornamentation patterns on the outside of the shell. It is these I am particularly interested in, as this is not seen in any modern animal eggs and therefore the purpose of ornamenting the eggs is unknown. I am hoping to use the recovered information to determine greater insight into the ecology of oviraptors worldwide, especially with regards to nesting habits.

Here I am below with a mock-up of a Dakotaraptor (not an oviraptorosaur unfortunately, but pretty cool nonetheless) back home in Birmingham from 2016.
